CHALLENGES IN LEARNING

Learning is essential in our lives because it enables an individual to gain the essential skills, information, and knowledge to attain their defined goals. We need to learn more and devise workarounds to get to know ourselves and what we are capable of. These will also help us grow and learn more about ourselves, allowing us to accomplish many great things in life.

The learning discoveries that I gained with all the issues and concerns in our lives and our surroundings are, first, knowing myself, my strengths and weaknesses, goals and aspirations trigger my brain to explore and learn more. A student like me can do more to acquire knowledge and improve myself. It also helps me identify my skills and abilities and make the right decisions in life. Second, being aware of what’s happening in society can help me as a student cope and think of ways to contribute to problem-solving. Third, due to the effects of the pandemic on education, I also became more responsible and resourceful in finding ways to learn, like researching and watching to gain information. Fourth, I also realized that the more knowledge we have, the more compassionate we become, and we can also improve our coping ability. Fifth, communication is a huge factor in learning. As a student, I need to communicate with others because it makes learning easier. It expands my learning and strengthens my connection to my teachers and the people around me, which creates an overall positive experience and impact. Lastly, digital literacy is essential in learning. We should learn to use technology because it’s the new normal. It also helps us engage with the teaching and learning process to meet our needs and achieve our potential as students.

Challenges in mental health because of what’s happening in society are some of the things that I encountered as a student. I need to be strong, open-minded, and resourceful to overcome the crisis in education. Another one is that the mode of learning nowadays affects not only me as a student but also my family and teachers. Without face-to-face interaction, the teachers can’t discuss and explain the lessons well, and not all parents are capable of teaching their children. Thus, students like me have difficulties understanding and answering some of the modules. A poor internet connection was also a problem that I encountered. I can’t work or study well, and it hinders me from finishing my modules faster. That’s why many students are affected by mental health problems that cause them to drop their studies or worse, commit suicide. Also, distraction is one of the problems. Some of these are family members watching TV while I’m studying, playing loud music, and a noisy environment like children playing, neighbors chatting on the street, and motorcycles passing by.

To address these challenges that I encountered, I will utilize the power of communication. I should communicate with my teachers, family, friends, and classmates to ask for help or support if I need it to avoid depression, which threatens my mental health. Another one is being digital literate by improving my skills in using gadgets for learning. To improve my learning, I must be aware of the bad and good effects of technology and its useful and not-useful applications. I must also concentrate and manage my time well to overcome distractions. Being patient is also needed. I should understand that what is happening now affects not only me but also others, and lastly, I am responsible for studying and answering the modules given to me.

Moving on, I will socialize more through the virtual company of people to avoid depression. I will make an effort to reach out to my teachers to ask for help when I have difficulties regarding the modules. I must practice self-discipline to finish all the modules in the allotted time. I will also be more resourceful and responsible, not only in learning but also in contributing to the solution of what’s happening like the pandemic, by respecting and following the protocols set by the government to avoid the spread of COVID-19. And lastly, I will be more compassionate towards others. Being open to others enables me to face tough times with creativity and resilience.
